Convenience, Safety, and Dependability
Against the wind – Protecting your home from hurricane wind damage
Garage doors are a critical component and help provide a secure building envelope
in residential applications. With extensive in-house and independent testing Hörmann
has generated a wide range of garage doors capable of withstanding both positive
and negative wind pressures. Hörmann hurricane doors are a passive system offering
maximum convenience: just shut the door - no additional preparation in the event
of a storm. Many products of other makes require activating special locks or pins
or complicated, cumbersome post systems.

Reinforcement strut type TBV 60
This specially engineered strut is color matched to the inside of the door to offer
a clean, finished appearance. |
 |
Reinforcement strut type M 115
Exclusively designed as reinforcement on Hörmann single and double doors with high
wind load requirements. |
Hurricane door type "HHD P"
The standard Hörmann double-skin door is able to withstand the forces generated
by winds up to 130 mph without requiring any further reinforcement in doors up to
9’ wide. |
 |
Hurricane door type "HHD 4T"
The specially engineered low profile TBV 60 strut provides significant incremental
strength for added stability. TBV struts magnify the inherent strength of our double-skin
sections and provide sufficient reinforcement for residential doors up to 18’ (under
most applications). |
 |
Hurricane door type "HHD 2M"
The specially designed reinforcement strut M 115 is used on double-skin with high
wind load requirements. Firmly screwed to the door sections this strut provides
extra strength and stability. |
 |
Hurricane door type "HHD 4M"
For extreme wind load conditions, such as South Florida, Hörmann doors come with
four M 115 struts. This door type provides the highest level of reinforcement to
help protect your home. |
